There are times when you're working on home improvement and remodeling tasks that hand tools just won't do the job. Hand tools are important, but you also need to have some good power tools as well. Before you start any home improvement projects on your own, here are 7 power tools that every person needs to have if they are going to do any home improvement jobs.
Power Tool #1 - Cordless Drill
Probably one of the most used power tools is going to be a cordless drill. You don't have to be tied down to a cord anymore. One great name in drills is DeWalt, and it's worth spending the money on this power tool. You'll end up using it over and over again for a variety of different tasks.
Power Tool #2 - Table Saw
Another of the top power tools you'll end up needing for doing any home improvement jobs is a good table saw. These saws are dangerous though, so understand how to use them and be very careful with them. There are various sizes that you can use depending on the space you have available for the saw.
Power Tool #3 - Sander
For most tasks you do around the home when it comes to home improvement and remodeling, you'll end up needing a sander. You don't want to end up doing the big jobs by hand. You can find them in many different name brands, just make sure you make a wise purchase.
Power Tool #4 - Compressor and Nailer Kit
A good compressor and nailer kit will definitely come in handy around the home. This is especially important if you are doing finishing, roofing, drywall, or other tasks for home improvement. Good kits come with crown stapler, finish nailers, and even brad nailers.
Power Tool #5 - Jig Saw
There are some things that your table saw won't work for. If you need to make complicated cuts, you'll find that a nice jig saw will come in handy. One great brand name to consider is Bosch, since they make a wonderful jig saw that will do a good job.
Power Tool #6 - Power Screwdriver
A regular screwdriver can be a great hand tool, but sometimes you need a bit more than the hand screwdriver. For some tasks, especially where the screws are pretty tight or they need to be tight, having a power screwdriver is a wonderful power tool to have on hand to help you out.

When you are going to do home improvement tasks, having a router is a great idea. When you are purchasing routers for your shop, going with a good name brand like Porter-Cable is a great idea.

Bejewelled

Materials and Tools:
Below are instructions on how to form a simple wire loop:
Step 1
Using a piece of wire 1-2" long, grip the wire about 1/2" in from the end with the tip of the round nose pliers. Make a 90 degree bend in the wire by pushing the end opposite of the 1/2" piece down.
Step 2
Using an underhand grip (with you palm facing up), hold the end of your bent wire in the round nose pliers, about 1/2" down from the tip of the pliers.
Step 3
Roll the end of the wire towards the bend in the wire so that they meet.
Below are instructions on how to open a jump ring:
Step 1
With two pairs of chain nose pliers, hold each side of the jump ring.
Step 2
Gently push one side of the jump ring back to open it. Remember always open in a side-to-side motion, do not pull the ends away from each other as if expanding the circle.
Reverse the motion to close.

- Swarovski flat briolette11x10mm, Crystal golden shadow (qty 2)
- Swarovski faceted round 4mm, Black Diamond AB (qty 4)
- Swarovski round crystal link round (qty2)
- 14K gold-filled ball end ear wire (qty 2)
- 14K gold-filled open jump ring, diameter 3mm (qty 2)
- Antique gold-plated pewter 6mm Vine Briolette Bail (qty 2)
- Chain nose pliers
- Round nose pliers
- Cutters
Instructions:
1.Attach the bail on the Swarovski flat briolette
2.Place one Swarovski faceted round 4mm onto a headpin. Cut the excess wire. Finish the end with a simple wire loop using round-nose pliers to create a drop. Repeat to create a total of four.
3.Attach the Swarovski flat briolette made in step 1 and two of the Swarovski faceted drops made in step 2 to a Swarovski round crystal link using the jump ring.
4.Open a loop on an ear wire. Attach the loop to the other end of the Swarovski round crystal link. Close the loop.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 to create the other earring.

Oriental Keepsake Box
Create this oriental fabric box for your precious keepsakes.
Step 1
Cut a strip of fabric 26 mm longer than the circumference of the box and 26 mm wider than the height of the box. Cut a circular piece of fabric 3 mm smaller in diameter than the bottom of the box.
Step2
Thin white glue with water just enough to make it easy to apply. Brush it onto the exterior of box. Wrap the fabric around the side of the box, centering the box in the middle of the strip, smoothing it as you go. Overlap the ends of the fabric.
Step 3
Apply glue onto the inside of the box along the edge. Fold the excess fabric over the top edge of the box to the inside. Cut small slits along the fabric if necessary for a smooth fit.
Step 4
Apply glue to the bottom of the box and glue the fabric to the bottom. Cut small slits in the excess fabric that will be folded over the bottom of the box, to make sure the box will sit flat.
Step 5
Glue the circular fabric to the bottom of the box.
Step 6
Cut a circular piece of batting the size of the lid and glue it to the top. Cut a circular piece of fabric large enough to go over the batting and the side of the lid.
Step 7
Cut small slits in the part of the fabric that will extend over the side and glue the fabric to the side of the lid.
Step 8
Cut a piece of fabric three times the width of the side of the lid and the length of the circumference plus a small overlap. Fold the fabric in thirds widthwise and glue it around the side of the lid.
Finish
If desired, lay the inside of the box with a large circular piece of fabric and glue it only around the edge so that the fabric will hang loosely inside the box rather than conform to the box's shape.
